There is a competition for everyone!

SENIOR MEN

  • Play 15s rugby from March to August in a statewide roster
  • Play 7s in Hobart in the 5 Fridays of November 2018 (other region dates TBC)
  • Have a Representative 15s program (2018 format & dates TBC)
  • Have a Representative 7s program and contest the National Championships

 

SENIOR WOMEN

  • Play 7s rugby from March to June in a regional roster (North/North West Region, & Southern Region), with one Statewide Tournament on Saturday 19th May 2018
  • Will play 15s matches in a Northern Tasmania vs Southern Tasmania format in June 2018
  • Play 7s in Hobart in the 5 Fridays of November 2018 (other region dates TBC)
  • Have a Tasmanian Rugby Representative 15s program (2018 format & dates TBC)
  • Have a Tasmanian Rugby Representative 7s program (2018 format & dates TBC)
  • Have the University of Tasmanian’s AON Uni7s High Performance Program

 

JUNIOR BOYS & GIRLS

Hobart

  • Play 15s Rugby on Friday nights during Term 2 (Schools and Clubs play each other) in the Boys U14, U16 and U18 age groups and Girls U14, U16 and U18 age groups. The Girls divisions will be new in 2018, if there aren’t enough players for 15s then the competition format will be 10s or 7s
  • Play a Statewide Junior 15s Tournament on Saturday 30th June
  • Play 7s in Hobart in the 5 Fridays of November 2018

Launceston

The Launceston Junior competition will be played in term 2, more details will be announced shortly

Devonport

The Devonport Junior 7s competition will be played in term 2, more details will be announced shortly

Burnie

The Burnie Junior competition details will be announced shortly

 

Representative Rugby – 15s

  • The Schoolboys (U18) team will contest the Div II interstate tournament against South Australia and the Northern Territory on the Gold Coast in July (term 2 school holidays) and then play other teams in the Gold Coast Rugby Carnival
  • The U16 and U14 Boys team program will be confirmed in January 2018, and will take place in the term 2 holidays in July
  • The Schoolgirls (U18) team program will be confirmed in January 2018, and will take place in the term 2 holidays in July.
  • In the coming years Tasmanian Rugby hopes to launch Representative programs for U16 and U14 girls 15s teams

 

Representative Rugby – 7s

  • The U17 Girls Representative 7s team will contest the National Championships in December 2018, and the U15 Girls Representative 7s will be launched towards the end of 2018
  • The U17 Boys Representative 7s team will contest the National Championships in December 2018, and the U15 Boys Representative 7s will be launched towards the end of 2018

 

LITTLE DEVILS

Boys and Girls aged 7-12 learn rugby in the Little Devils program. These sessions are games-based and teach kids the basics of rugby in a safe and fun environment which matches their age and physical development. The sessions begin with skill development and finish with tackle matches for the older kids, and non-contact matches for the younger kids.

Little Devils runs in Hobart in the afternoons before the junior matches commence, in terms 2 and 4.

Little Devils in other locations around the state will be launched in 2018.

 

NON-CONTACT Viva7s

For players who aren’t sure about tackle but want to try the sport, for former players trying to avoid injury, or families who want to play together, Australian Rugby’s newly launched Viva7s game has something for everyone! 2018 Competitions around the state will be launching soon, more information is at the Viva7s website
