COACHING COURSES

SmartRugby
Smart Rugby via the online Rugby Learning Centre is for all those required to gain this accreditation, those interested in updating their knowledge on law and safety, and others within the wider rugby community. SmartRugby is mandatory for anyone coaching or refereeing rugby at all levels.
Duration: Approx. 1-2 hours (self-paced)
Age Group: All Levels

Coaching Kids Rugby Course
Duration: 3 hours
Age Group: U6 – U12
Cost: $20
Delivery Method: Online and Face to Face
2018 Dates: Hobart Tuesday 10th April, 6-8pm
Hobart Wednesday 2nd May, 6-8pm
Launceston Wednesday 9th May (TBC)
Devonport & Burnie by request of the clubs

Foundation Coaches Course
Prerequisite for Level 1 coaching accreditation
Duration: 1 day (8 hours)
Age Group: U13 – U18

COACH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Pre-Season Tasmanian Coaching Seminar
Hobart – Saturday 17th March, $50
All club coaches and anyone with an interest in coaching strongly encouraged to attend.
Presentations on the following (TBC): Skill development, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, Performance Analysis, Game Management Guidelines for 2018 season, Blue Card (concussion) rule changes, RugbyLink & Code of Conduct.
Dinner that night for all participants to get to know each other.

Coach Mentor Program
Coaches who apply for this program are matched with a mentor (mentors can be from interstate or Tasmania).
Tasmanian Rugby will monitor their coaching progress throughout the season, and they must be regularly coaching a team (can be a club, school or representative team).
Mentees have some access to high performance rugby coaches, and will be given discounted or free access to coaching courses and support.
Anyone who is interested is strongly encouraged to nominate for this program regardless of coaching experience, including new coaches, coaches of kids teams, etc.

Advanced Coaching Seminar
Run in conjunction with the UTAS Uni7s 7s High Performance Camp. Attendees will follow the elite team and staff to their training, gym and recovery sessions, and will be presented with lectures and explanations from the elite team staff on how to prepare a team for elite competition.

Skills Clinics
The skills clinics will be a pre-training session for kids who wish to trial for the junior representative teams. They are also education sessions for coaches to learn more about the technique of each skill.
The sessions are free and open to everyone.

2018 Dates: Rugby Park, Hobart (5.00pm-6.00pm)
Wednesday 21st March – Passing
Wednesday 28th March – Scrums & Line Outs
Wednesday 4th April – Tackle & Ruck

Devonport, Burnie and Launceston sessions will be arranged with the clubs by request.
